A new study, "Enhancing Reprogramming Towards Induced Human Expanded Pluripotency Through Substitution of SOX2 with Engineered SOX17 Transcription Factors" has shown that engineered SOX17 and miniSOX outperform SOX2 in generating mouse and human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and enable robust derviation of iEPSCs. The work, led by Dr. Haoqing Hu from Prof. Ralf Jauch’s lab — with key contributions from Martha Yeung, Yuebin Tan, and Dr. Degong Ruan — marks a meaningful step forward in modelling early development and discovering antiviral and anti-aging therapies.
